Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)
Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) is an exterior wall cladding that was developed in the 1960s. It usually consists of an expanded polystyrene (EPS) bead board attached adhesively or mechanically to sheathing, followed by a base coat and finish coat. EIFS moisture drainage application includes a fluid-applied weather barrier coupled with the EPS board, a base coat, impact resistive mesh and a finish coat to prevent water from migrating into the underlying walls or interiors.
EIFS became popular due to the ability to reduce thermal loads on the exterior building wall. It is also a light weight and low cost option. The system has the ability to be sculpted or molded into shapes and patterns, especially to produce an exterior that appears to be limestone or a brick-look that is difficult to differentiate from real brick even when viewed side by side.
Saylor’s has been a certified installer of EIFS for over 40 years. Over the years, we have won many awards for both our high quality EIFS installations and our ability to install beautiful walls with creative effects.
